We are seeking anIntermediate Interior Designer who combines strong design aesthetics with exceptional project management skills. The ideal candidate not only thrives in creating beautiful, timeless interiors but also excels at structuring workflows, leading teams, and mentoring junior designers.This role is best suited for someone who takes initiative, communicates with clarity, and can build strong client relationships while driving projects forward. They are energized by bringing order to complexity, enjoy developing others, and knowhow to balance big-picture vision with precise attention to detail.
• Support project managers, senior designers, and the principal in all phases of design projects.
• Embody and reflect Lucy Harris Studio’s design vision in every deliverable.
• Oversee project coordination and client communication to ensure smooth workflows.
• Source materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, hardware, rugs, and accessories—spanning custom, in-stock, and vintage options.
• Craft and organize client presentations that clearly convey design direction and intent.
• Draft precise floor plans and elevations using AutoCAD.
• Prepare polished proposals using Design Manager.
• Manage procurement and maintain accurate financial records.
• Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and receiving teams to ensure timely deliveries and installations.
• Contribute to project planning and scheduling, proactively addressing issues to maintain smooth execution.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior designers—offering guidance, feedback, and support to help them grow professionally.
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills in team settings—steering creative direction, facilitating collaboration, and elevating quality and impact across projects.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Interior Design.
• Minimum of 2-year full-time experience in high-end residential interior design (not including internships).
• Based in New York City.
• Strong project management skills: able to juggle timelines, details, and multiple stakeholders with ease.
• Site installation/construction oversight experience
• Exceptional interpersonal skills: able to build trust quickly, adapt communication styles, and develop meaningful client and team relationships.
• Self-starter who is confident working independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; clear, thoughtful, and professional in all client and vendor interactions.
• Professional demeanor and appearance when interacting with clients, vendors, and peers.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office Suite (Design Manager experience a plus).
• Knowledge of sourcing, requesting quotes, and coordinating with vendors and delivery companies.
• Punctual, reliable, and proactive in identifying challenges and solutions.
• Experience collaborating with architects and consultants is a plus.
• Fluent in English and authorized to work in the United States.
